Cloud repatriation and AI refresh cycles are pushing record volumes of used servers onto the secondary market in 2026. What it means for resale values.
Two waves are hitting the used-hardware market at once in 2026: enterprises repatriating workloads from cloud back to owned infrastructure, and hyperscale AI refresh cycles pushing previous-generation fleets out the door. Both mean more supply — and a closing window for sellers holding last-generation gear.
Record volumes of R740/R750-class compute, A100 fleets, and 100/200G fabric are reaching brokers. When supply concentrates, spreads widen: the best-documented lots keep clearing near the top of the range while anonymous lots chase falling bids.
GPU systems with fabric, current-gen storage (NVMe/all-flash), DDR5 memory, and 400G networking hold up best. Commodity 14th-gen compute is depreciating fastest — a fleet worth $2,000/node today may struggle to fetch $1,200 after the next quarter's supply lands.
